The Division of Water Pollution Control develops and implements programs to prevent or clean up the pollution of surface and ground water in Massachusetts. Programs are also implemented at the local level under regional engineers for resource protection. Under Title V (310 CMR 15.00) of the state Environmental Code, the division monitors and enforces regulations to eliminate pollution of groundwater from septic system emissions. This series was created by regional office staff and earlier, the Bureau of Environmental Sanitation in the Department of Public Health), have created this series to investigate and monitor systems after licenses have been granted by local boards of health.
